About Amy

You did not come here for a list of qualifications
You came because something about life with your dog is harder than you hoped, and you want to know whether the person behind this actually understands that.

So here is what I believe, and everything I do comes from it.

Most of what gets called bad behaviour is an instinct with nowhere to go. Your dog is not being difficult. They are being a dog, in a house, with nothing to do. Give that instinct a proper outlet and a huge amount of what you are struggling with quietly stops being a problem.

It was never about more obedience and stricter training.

Who I am

I am Amy. I run Amy's Tails of Dog Training in Welwyn Garden City, and I teach scent work, scurry and mantrailing across Hertfordshire.

Why you can trust me with your dog

I am IMDT qualified, a Gold accredited UK Sniffer Dogs instructor, a Mantrailing Global instructor and a Scurry Dog instructor. I am also a Level 2 Reactivity Coach, and I am currently working through a further scent qualification.

What that means for you is that I have been assessed by people who set proper standards, I am insured, and I keep learning rather than teaching the same thing I learned a decade ago. You are not handing your dog to somebody who did a weekend course.

How this works

I do not do quick fixes, and I will tell you honestly if I think somebody has sold you one.

Scent sports and scurry are not a six week problem solving course you finish and forget. They are a hobby for your dog, the same way you have a hobby. That is the point of them. Dogs who have something to look forward to every week are different dogs.

I work with owners who want to give their dog the best life they can, and I will be straight with you the whole way through. Your dog’s welfare comes before anything else, including telling you what you want to hear.

Come and have a look

If you would rather understand your dog than manage them, have a look at what we run. Or book a call and tell me about yours. I would rather point you in the right direction than sell you the wrong class.
